Those Wild, Wild, Wildwood Days!
Jul. 31st, 2015 08:24 pmJust got back from my first ever trip to Wildwood, New Jersey. I have to say I really enjoyed myself. My cousin and I stayed at The Bolero, a combination hotel/motel located one block from the boardwalk. We were in the hotel part. Not bad; the room had a separate living room with a microwave and a fridge. There was no window in the bedroom and only one light, the mattresses were way too soft and our one living room window overlooked the pool, but you know what? I didn't care.
Wildwood is just this side of seedy and reminded me of the old, pre-casino Atlantic City; lots of arcades on the boardwalk where I played Skee-ball to my heart's content, tons of places to buy salt water taffy, hokey souvenir shops and piers with rides like the Great White rollar coaster I had a blast riding.
The Bolero has a restaurant with live entertainment every night starting with Elvis impersonator Johnny Tocco who performed our first night there. We both took selfies with him and it seems fitting that as we were eating brunch in the Red Oak buffet this morning across the street after checking out, he came in and sat across from us alone. He remembered us and wished us safe travels home.
I will post pix later.
