Just a quick  note to remind (or tell) you that I am leaving town tomorrow and won't be back around these online parts until the 20th.

I remind all who are participating in the Song Story Challenge that posting starts this coming Thursday.  I have written my story and have scheduled it to post that day here on LJ.  Once I return, I'll delete it here and repost to AO3 with a link from LJ.

For those who read the MFU Short Stories recs, I am scheduling Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday selections tonight, so not to worry, there will be something to read.

Everyone play nicely with the boys while I'm gone!

I'm Back!

Got in last night.  I had a wonderful, restful time.  I didn't realize how much I needed some down time until I got there.  The majority of my time was spent lying either on the beach or poolside.  I took very few pictures and I only did two excursions that took about nine hours combined.  I spent my time reading, sipping wine and the occasional cocktail and eating.

When it came to food, I made sure to eat lots of fruit and veggies because I knew I was getting a ton of empty calories from the alcohol.  I expected to gain weight, but it was only three pounds.  If you knew how much I've packed on with other vacations, you would know that comparitively speaking, I didn't gain anything.

The Song Story Challenge post this Thursday and again, I haven't written one word for it.  Last month, I was able to cobble something together for the 1st posting day; hopefully, I'll be able to do it again.  I'm in no rush to get back into my "normal" routine.

I think I figured out a couple of plot bunnies, so that's a good thing.

Ya Mon!

I probably won't be around next week as I am heading off to Jamaica for a week.  To quote Raymond Reddington, "This is gonna be a gas!"  I've never been to Jamaica and I've never been to an all-inclusive resort.  In celebration of my 65th birthday, I have hitched my wagon onto a new friend's 60th birthday celebration (at her invitation) and my cousin and I joined her trip.  The resort is called Breathless; it's located in Montego Bay and it is a high-end, luxury place.

I plan to take tons of pictures and I will share when I return.

Just got back from my first ever trip to Wildwood, New Jersey.  I have to say I really enjoyed myself.  My cousin and I stayed at The Bolero, a combination hotel/motel located one block from the boardwalk.  We were in the hotel part.  Not bad; the room had a separate living room with a microwave and a fridge.  There was no window in the bedroom and only one light, the mattresses were way too soft and our one living room window overlooked the pool, but you know what?  I didn't care.

Wildwood is just this side of seedy and reminded me of the old, pre-casino Atlantic City; lots of arcades on the boardwalk where I played Skee-ball to my heart's content, tons of places to buy salt water taffy, hokey souvenir shops and piers with rides like the Great White rollar coaster I had a blast riding.

The Bolero has a restaurant with live entertainment every night starting with Elvis impersonator Johnny Tocco who performed our first night there.  We both took selfies with him and it seems fitting that as we were eating brunch in the Red Oak buffet this morning across the street after checking out, he came in and sat across from us alone.  He remembered us and wished us safe travels home.

I will post pix later.
