I'm Back, Back in the New York Groove!
Mar. 29th, 2017 08:36 amLanded at 7 this morning. I've already been to the market so I can eat today. I always feel a bit conflicted when I return; part of me wonders why I don't make a greater effort to move to the Vegas Valley, but the other part loves it here.
I think what it is is just loving my apartment and my stuff. When I'm staying with Mom, we have fun and it's great, but I'm very aware that it's not my space. My mother's tastes and mine are similar, but not identical; I want after awhile to be surrounded by things I like.
Anyway, I'm home and it feels wonderful.
I bought a new laptop which I'm currently using and as always, there is a learning curve. I didn't realize when I bought this Lenovo that the USB ports are on the left so I either have to learn to use the laptop's mouse or buy a wireless one. I'm trying to work with the little pad on the laptop, but I have always felt I have better control with an external mouse. We'll see what happens.
The plan was to bring this new one home and leave the other at my mom's to eliminate carrying it from one side of the country to the other. So guess what happened? I sat down to my old laptop yesterday, checked in for my flight, had my boarding pass sent to my phone, but when I started to post the short stories for yesterday, it froze up and then it starting chiming. One chime signaled the cursor was frozen and another signaled it was free. Every. Three. Seconds.
I was finally able to move fast enough to shut the thing off; so the first thing I have to do whenever I get back out West is take it to the Geek Squad. Sigh. I am grateful it didn't start acting up until after I had gotten my boarding pass.

Date: 2017-03-29 08:48 pm (UTC)I told Mom to give IB lots of love and affection since I'm gone. I told her that I can just picture IB asking Pepper where I went and Pepper replying that I left, am never coming back and it's all her fault, LOL.
