Many years ago, before I had ever heard of fan fiction, i wrote an original short story about a woman and a lottery ticket.  I published it on a website called "Everyone Gets Published.com."

I've learned some things since then.  First, NEVER save your work to your computer.  Second, publish your tales on more than one site so that if one dies, your story lives.  I did  both of these things and when my computer died and I went to the site to print out a copy and discovered it no longer existed, I was certain that my story, "Loose Lips," was gone forever.

As most of you know, Ma died earlier this month and I've been going through her things.  Lo and behold, there was a copy of my story!  I knew I had sent it to her, but after almost 20 years, I didn't think she still had it.  Thanks, Ma.

I just published it as an Original Work on AO3.  I re-read it and I still like it.  I would love for you to read it and let me know what you think.  Thanks, Cousins.  And thanks, Ma, for holding on to my story.

And just so you know, I save my writing on a flash drive, Google Docs and One Drive.  So I present to you:

Loose Lips

No wonder she kept it. Brilliant! Truly, I think it good enough for AHMM or EQMM.

Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine and Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. They at least used to publish the top short story fiction in the mystery and suspense genre.

Okay, that's a surprise ending. How about you don't stop there, bring in a couple of UNCLE agents to save the day and ... well, you know what to do with that scenario :D
