I remember when "alot" was acceptable, grammatically speaking. I try to notice when I fall back on that old habit, but I don't always catch the mistake. Maybe your post will help me remember.

Can we add the improper usage of personal pronouns? How do we stop the madness of always saying 'I' when 'me' is the correct word?
Please will you go with I to the store? Well, that's what people say when they use it incorrectly... go with Napoleon and I to the store. It's wrong, all wrong!
Oh, and I for one am in favor of boycotting Ford for their insipid ad campaign... Go Further. Just how fur would you like to go?

Improper use of pronouns is out of control! And, so unnecessary. I was taught to check by removing (or adding) names. For example: Give the report to Napoleon, Illya and I. Change to "Give the report to I" and you'll hear (or should)how glaringly wrong that is.

I was also taught that "you and I" equals "we" and "you and me" equals "us" so using my same example, you would change Give the report to Napoleon, Illya and I" to "Give the report to us" which is and sounds correct. If you had said "I," changing it to "Give the report to we" is obviously wrong. At least, I hope it's obvious.

This a good list of the major ones.

The your/you're and there/their/they're mix up drive me bananas and I don't even understand how so very many people get lose/loose wrong. They don't sound the same, and they are spelled how they sound.
