One Should Always Listen to the Universe When It's Telling You Something

After swimming this morning, my gym buddy and I went to CVS.  On the way, we passed two cars that had been pulled over by the police for whatever reasons and I commented, "They are definitely out here today."

Fast forward to this afternoon and I'm on my way home from the casino feeling good because I had walked out with more than I came in with.  Came to an all-way stop sign, saw nothing, did a "rolling stop" and guess what?  Yup, cop came out of nowhere and gave me a ticket.  And what could I say?  "I would have come to a complete stop if I had seen you, Officer" probably wouldn't have gotten me out of it.

aw. bummer. that's no fun.

I have this theory that cops/speed traps etc occur in groups. It seems like I'm never out somewhere and see a cop very visibly looking to pull people over, but then I'll see at least one more on the same trip.

Maybe it's random heavy drinking days that I don't register, or maybe it's a consequence of Randomness being so random that it bunches things up rather than spreads them out.

Anyway, sorry to hear you got a ticket.

Yikes! Not fun at all. I tried talking my way out of a speeding ticket by telling the officer I really had to use the toilet (which was true). He kept me for a half hour. I nearly died. It didn't slow me down, but I am more careful.

I agree with The Wretching - they do seem to all pick the same day. There will be cops everywhere here, then nowhere to be found. Go figure.

Sympathy on the ticket, though. It's never fun.

I am aware that must sound sardonic, and even cynical but, really, when you consider the current state of things, you have to be so or to sink into despair. Note that the situation is about the opposite in my country; a lot of policemen (and policewomen) were killed because they didn't dare to shoot when attacked. Sad, any way.
