Oh my god! It's those tricky little misspellings where the wrong spelling is actually another word so spellcheck just goes along with it.
Mid college, I got a paper back with the word "discus" circled in red.....and I just stared at it confusedly for several minutes, until it dawned on me: Discuss! I'd been spelling that wrong forever and I never even noticed I was doing it! I was pretty embarrassed for all my past papers that I'd gotten good grades on and that I was sure were absolutely brilliant, and those earlier teachers had just let it slide thinking it was a typo.
Ah yes. These mistakes do happen and they do look so hilarious in hindsight.
